Gloucester care home garage conversion to offices approved

Plans to convert a Gloucester care home’s garage into an office have been given the go-ahead.

Alex Green has been granted permission by Gloucester City Council to convert the detached double garage at number 7 Denmark Road which is a four-storey end-terrace home.

The proposal is to turn the existing garage in the rear garden into an office which is intended for a maximum of three  members of staff who are already employed on the site.

The structure of the garage will be altered with a new roof, windows, doors, and external timber cladding.

The existing hard standing at the rear of the garden is also proposed to be removed and replaced with a new and enlarged permeable vehicular turning and parking area for four cars.

Access to the proposed parking area would be formed by the removal of the timber fence at the southeast boundary adjacent to Hillfield Court Road, where existing dropped kerbs are located.

The planning committee considered the proposals at their meeting on May 2. Officers recommended approving the scheme.

Chairman Gordon Taylor (C, Abbeymead) proposed approving the scheme subject to conditions and this was seconded by vice chairman Steve Morgan (C, Grange). The committee voted to approve the proposals.
