Independent research undertaken by Transport Focus at the end of 2015 has revealed that overall satisfaction with Stagecoach is at 86%, making them the third highest performing transport company within the UK. Furthermore, Stagecoach West in Gloucestershire has an overall satisfaction of 90%, setting them above the company average.

Recent research has shown record levels of satisfaction for the local bus operator, Stagecoach West. At the end of, independent transport user watchdog, Transport Focus, undertook independent research across 24 areas within England to reveal satisfaction scores for the UK’s transport companies, as voted for by the passengers. Over 1,000 Gloucestershire bus users took part in the UK-wide research.

The outstanding satisfaction score within the county of Gloucestershire was due to various factors, including ease of getting on & off the bus, availability of seats, driver driving standards and driver appearance.

Further results for Gloucestershire show that passengers’ level of satisfaction regarding the value for money is at 67%, an increase from 62% the previous year, and satisfaction with punctuality is at 83%, up from 82% the previous year. 56% of respondents choose to use the bus with the biggest reason being that the bus was cheaper to use than the car for their journey.

These satisfaction scores follow further national research that highlighted the savings to be made through travelling by bus; the average commuter in the UK could save £1,000 compared to travelling by car, despite falling pump prices. The research showed that the average Briton can save more than £90 a month by switching to the bus, enough of a saving to cover the entire annual energy costs for a medium-sized house*.

Stagecoach works with other major public transport groups in the UK, as well as campaign group Greener Journeys and local authorities, to attract more people out of their cars and on to public transport; reducing pollution and congestion in the UK’s town and cities. Stagecoach has also invested more than £630million over the past eight years in brand new buses and coaches for local communities.

Rupert Cox, Managing Director, for Stagecoach West, commented:“We’re incredibly proud of the service that we provide to the local communities within Gloucestershire, and to hear that those people who use the bus service we provide are very satisfied is fantastic. We’re not going to take a step back though, we’re constantly striving to ensure that we’re providing the highest level of service to our passengers and are always reviewing our offering.”
