Resident’s Weekend returns this March for its fifth year running.
This three day event is the perfect opportunity for Gloucester resident’s to explore experience and enjoy their city with many fantastic savings and special offers over the course of the weekend. From the 18th until the 20th of March 2016 there are free and special rate entry to some fantastic attractions and tours of the city, discounts at various restaurants, pubs and cafes and savings on a wide range of retail and leisure offerings across Gloucester.
Julian Dow, deputy centre manager of Eastgate Shopping Centre said – “Resident’s Weekend is a great event for resident’s cardholders and shopkeepers alike, exclusive deals and offers are put on for resident’s to enjoy and possibly lead to them discovering and trying new things in the city. It is wonderful to see so many people out for the event each year and it always brings a great atmosphere to the city”.
There is something to suit everyone whether it’s a fun filled family day out, some well deserved pampering or a chance to top up on your historical knowledge. Resident’s Weekend has supported city centre businesses over the last five years driving record footfall onto the high street with a range of attractive offers, entertainment and activities.
Jason Smith, Chief Executive of Marketing Gloucester says “Resident’s Weekend is a great way for businesses to give something back to the people of Gloucester. It promises to have a great atmosphere, with music in the streets and lots of community groups involved. I would highly recommend to anyone to get their Resident’s Card and take advantage of the attractive offers”.
According to the Guardian, high streets in the UK are suffering and figure make “grim reading”. 2015 saw a 9% drop with the number of shoppers visiting UK stores. There has also been a general downward trend over the last several years. Gloucester’s high street however seems to be bucking the UK trend as footfall figures are on the rise, as is the number of shops.
