Paws on Patrol Returns to Gloucester Park – What does your Super Hero Look Like? by Shaun Moore | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/
Paws on Patrol is returning to Gloucester Park in May for a fifth year.
On Saturday 7th May at midday, the Park will be full of activity with displays from Gloucestershire Police Dog Team, LG Agility Group, Ali Magic’s Heelwork to Music and The Quack Pack – farmer Meirion Owen with his amazing Border Collie herding Indian Runner Ducks around the arena.
There will also be a novelty dog show, which everyone is welcome to take part in and is free to enter.
Gloucestershire Police are also offering the chance for two lucky young people to go into the arena to assist the Police Dog Handlers with their displays.
Safer Gloucester is inviting any young person who is a resident of Gloucester to draw or paint their ideas of their own Hero Dog and send or take it to the Safer Gloucester office at Herbert Warehouse, The Docks, Gloucester GL1 2EQ by Friday 22nd April 2016.
There will be two categories – under 11 years, and over 11 years. Submissions can be drawn, painted or digital, but should be no bigger than A3 size.
Children and young people should let their imaginations run, and consider what would their hero dog look like? Would it have clothes? Would it have special adaptations? Would it have superpowers? What is it’s name?
All entries must include the child’s name, age, address and telephone number and/or email of a parent or guardian so that the winners can be contacted in the week of 25th April in order to make arrangements with the Police dogs.
Cllr Jennie Dallimore, Gloucester City Council cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “Paws on Patrol is always a huge success and just gets better each year.
“We are so pleased to be able to bring the event back to Gloucester park for a fifth year running; Paws on Patrol has almost 1500 members now and is always growing; the scheme has built a great community of dog owners and responsible residents in our City.”
Steve Wood, local policing area Inspector, says: “Paws on Patrol is one of our biggest events of the year in terms of being able to engage with the people of Gloucester. This year we are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for two young residents to get the VIP treatment to meet Paws on Patrol mascots Ace and Holly and their colleagues, and help our dog handlers with parts of the police dog displays. We’re looking forward to seeing the “Hero Dog” submissions to our competition and meeting the winners”
If you’re interested in volunteering at the Paws on Patrol event then please get in touch with Pat Dabbs by calling Gloucester City Council on 01452 396984. The event runs from 12 noon until 5pm and volunteers are needed throughout and after this time.
