A new Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) has started work in the county.
Julian Moss was appointed to the role of ACC Operations earlier this month and has now taken strategic control of all operational policing departments.
He has lived in the Stroud district for 14 years and is married with three children. He enjoys running in the local Cotswold countryside.
Julian joined the police in 1992. He has considerable experience in neighbourhood policing, having been a beat manager in Bristol as a constable, neighbourhood inspector for Bath, superintendent with responsibility for neighbourhood policing and partnerships in Bristol before going on to become local policing commander for North Somerset. He later had responsibility for local policing as temporary Assistant Chief Constable for Avon and Somerset Police.
Other notable roles include temporary Assistant Chief Constable for public protection and force development at Wiltshire Police and head of CID at Avon and Somerset.
Julian said: “I am delighted about the prospect of working for the Constabulary in which I live.
“The Police and Crime Commissioner’s crime plan is something I feel really excited about and I am looking forward to playing my part in maintaining and redefining neighbourhood policing so we can remain visible in our communities and still tackle the issues that really affect people.”
