Gloucester Residents Weekend: Explore, Enjoy and Experience Your City. by Kate | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/
This month sees the return of Gloucester’s Residents’ Weekend with a whole new batch of great offers for residents to enjoy over the weekend of the 18th to the 20th of March.
Businesses all over the city will be putting on offers for Residents’ Cardholders to enjoy as a way to give back to the residents of Gloucester. There is an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and attractions putting on offers this year from Gloucester Rugby, retail outlets, and coffee shops, to Sportbeat music festival and historic attractions.
Gloucester’s Residents’ Weekend was first organised in 2012 as a way to thank the people of Gloucester for being great ambassadors for the city, for instance when hundreds of thousands of people came to the city during the Rugby World Cup last year. It’s a great chance for residents to be tourists in their own city by allowing them to visit attractions for free or at a reduced rate, enjoy free tours of the city, as well as eating at a restaurant they may not have tried before.
Emily Knight, event coordinator at Marketing Gloucester said:”It’s great to see so many businesses taking part in Residents’ Weekend this year. The offers get better and better with each event. There are deals at museums, shops, beauty salons, festivals, restaurants and bars, and much more”.
But the offers don’t end after Residents’ Weekend. There are deals that run throughout the year at many businesses and these can be found on the Residents’ Weekend leaflet or website.
Ben Hau, head of marketing at Marketing Gloucester said:”Residents’ Weekend is just another example of how businesses and the people of Gloucester come together to create a buzz in the city. Residents’ Weekend is important as it supports local businesses by keeping approximately 50-70p per £1 within the local economy. Shopping online or in other town centres, will see only 5p per £1 going into the local economy”.
You can pick up a Residents’ Card at either Gloucester’s award winning Tourist Information Centre, the customer service desk in the Eastgate Shopping Centre or the Gloucester Quays customer service desk. Then you will just need to show your Residents’ Card to the attractions and businesses to benefit from all of the offers.
