Frightmare Halloween Festival, which takes place at Over Farm in Gloucester, is banning members of the public from dressing up as clowns in light of the recent clown craze.

The scare event, which is now in its 15th year, uses trained clowns in and around its live horror attractions, but is asking members of the public to refrain from wearing clown costumes and masks or they will be denied entry.

Matt Keene, organiser of Frightmare Halloween Festival said “We’d like to reassure ticket holders that the current clown craze is not linked or endorsed by Frightmare Halloween Festival in any way. We made the decision after numerous concerned parties contacted us.”

“This is purely for the safety and security of the public and our staff on site and we still encourage the tradition of fancy dress for any other characters.”
