I start with an apology for the obvious pun that is about to ensue. Here it comes…

There’s some UNBELIEVABLE news from Sportbeat today with the announcement that Forest of Dean legends EMF are to set Gloucester alight when they play the Saturday night of the Plock Court festival on 20th August. This will be the ONLY live performance they lads will play in Gloucestershire as they celebrate their 25th anniversary year – it really will be an extremely special event. They haven’t played in the county since their amazing shows in December 2013 at the Guildhall which sold out in less than 24 hours. As I’ve been an EMF fan since they first burst onto the scene in the early 90’s I’m absolutely buzzing!! I’ve got to know the boys personally since booking them for Lakefest in 2012 (a personal career highlight) and apart from being just out of this world live they are just the most lovely lads. Even if I’m still in hospital in August I’m determined that I’ll get home leave that weekend just so that I can be there – this is one act that can’t be missed and I’m positive that Gloucester will roll back the years and we’ll all give the lads a warm home-coming. Get the beanie hats ready, get the ¾ length shorts out, learn all the lyrics to Unbelievable, I Believe, Children, Lies and all the other amazing songs and let the Forest Posse do their thing!!

Barn On The Farm have announced their Friday night intimate line up and, yet again, they really have done something amazing by revealing a host of incredible bands for the lucky limited ticket holders. On the bill are the outstanding Amber Run, Kyko, Barns Courtney, Tom Walker, Plested, Grace Ackerman, Ten Tonnes, Aaron Rowe and Sophia Alexa. In keeping with their usual tradition they have not announced their headliner, this is kept under wraps until the night itself but, given that previous headliners have included Lewis Watson and Gabrielle Aplin you can be sure that it will be someone very special indeed. Tickets are now in very short supply so if you want to be there I wouldn’t leave it a second longer. Get along to www.barnonthefarm.co.uk and get yours now – you won’t regret it – you will if you don’t!!

Gig Of The Week

My gig of the week is a spotlight gig from Wychwood Festival this Friday night (3rd June). Once again it’s frustrating for me as I’m still stuck in hospital down in Norwich, and the band I’m encouraging everyone to go and see is arguably one of my favourite bands of all time. However, I want people to go and vicariously enjoy it in my place. The Waterboys have headlined Wychwood in the past and it was there that I first met Mike Scott, their wonderfully talented lead singer and founder member. Mike and I have formed a friendship since that day and I’ve seen the band a number of times, always meeting up with Mike afterwards for a catch up. I even joined he and Steve Wickham for a “trad session” up at the Prince Albert in Stroud one evening after a gig at the Subscription Rooms – a truly memorable evening. The Waterboys are one of those bands that everyone should see, their live shows are just incredible, their sound immense and this is set to be the highlight of the whole weekend. Don’t miss it – Wychwood has so much to offer, but this is the one.

Song Of The Week

I’m going with a track from Amber Run to celebrate the announcement of their appearance on the Friday evening at Barn On The Farm. I’ve seen these lads quite a number of times and their live shows really are something quite special. Whenever they play this particular track it really does make the emotions well. Their harmonies are always on point and the swell of music is magnificent. So, this week’s song of the week, from their debut album 5AM is the superb I Found. Enjoy.
