CCTV released of suspicious car after stabbing in Gloucester by Shaun Moore | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/
Police investigating a serious assault where a man was stabbed in Gloucester, have released CCTV images of a suspicious vehicle.
Officers are eager to speak to the occupants of a silver Vauxhall Meriva, registration KF57 AJO, which is believed to have been involved in the incident which happened at 7.40pm on Monday 4 July on Park Road.
A 27-year-old local man was walking across the zebra crossing near to the entrance of Gloucester Park when he was approached by two men. A physical altercation occurred between the three of them, before the victim was stabbed in the stomach and arm.
The offenders ran off whilst the victim made his way to Trier Way using the main footpath through the park to ask for help. He was taken to hospital where he spent several days recovering, but thankfully his injuries were not life threatening.
DS Neil Snaith, the investigating officer, said: “The vehicle pictured was in the Brunswick Square area of Gloucester during the time of the incident and has since been recovered by police following a collision in the Hester’s Way area of Cheltenham on Wednesday 6 July. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the occupants but we have released the images in hope of jogging a witness’s memory.
“We understand an incident of this nature is very concerning for local residents but we wish to reassure the community that this is believed to be isolated, where the victim and offenders are thought to know each other.”
“I would also like to speak to a woman who was walking her dog in Gloucester Park at the time of the stabbing. She spoke to police at the scene after the incident but didn’t provide her contact details before leaving. I urge her or anyone else with information to get in touch.”
