This popular 13th Century pub has been named after the original owner’s famous Nephew Dick Whittington who became Mayor of London all those years ago. The Inn was originally named saint  Nicholas House. The more contemporary Georgian architecture was added to the existing front between 1780-1880. In 1574 Queen Elizabeth the First, visited Gloucester and slept in the house in the far Bedroom. The whole house was decorated for her visit. Paintings which adorned the walls during her stay can be seen in the room in which she slept which is now the Manager’s Lounge. During Gloucester’s Heritage Open Days the public are able to view the paintings. “The Dick Whitt” always have 6 Ales and Ciders on at all times and serve home cooked food made to order including the well known Black Rock Grill. A variety of nights are held including Heavy Metal, Soul, Jazz, Folk and much more. They also hold every Tuesday night the classic Brittish pub which you can enjoy surrounded by comfort, friendly locals and vast amounts of liquor of your chosen
