This Summer Gloucester City Homes (GCH) hosted its eleventh Annual Garden Competition.

During July, all tenants were welcomed to enter the competition which celebrates the hard work and effort that has been put into maintaining gardens across the City.

The competition received nearly thirty entries from tenants in communities across Gloucester. The entries demonstrated some bright and varied gardens.

The GCH Tenant Panel were tasked with the difficult job of judging the entries and awarded the five winners. After much consideration they chose winners of each category: Best Floral Garden, Best Hanging Baskets, Best Wildlife Garden, Best Balcony/Patio Garden and Vegetable Garden.
Entrants were awarded with a prize to thank each person for taking pride in their home and community. Winners were visited by Jason Humphries, Tenancy & Estates Manager and Amanda Hayward, Housing Officer who handed over prizes and looked around each wonderful garden.

We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition and those who invest time in their gardens to improve the appearance of their home and area.

Jason Humphries, Tenancy & Estates Manager at GCH said “The Garden Competition is a great opportunity to acknowledge and thank residents for their efforts and creativity. The standard and quality of gardens across our neighbourhoods this Summer was very high, with customers showing a real sense of enthusiasm and pride. We’ve seen an array of beautiful flowers, ornamental features and a wide assortment of seasonal vegetables.”

Carrie Godwin, Chair of the Gloucester City Homes Tenant Panel added “The photos we judged clearly showed people’s passion and commitment. It was amazing to see how different and wonderful each garden was and we are proud to have such enthusiastic gardeners tenants.”
