Barton and Tredworth safeguarding open day by Kate | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/
The Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children and Adult’s Boards are supporting a community open day in Gloucester on 23rd March.
The annual event, hosted by Barton and Tredworth Neighbourhood Partnership, is an opportunity for the local community to come together and find out more about safeguarding.
The theme of this year’s open day is ‘safeguarding and supporting the community’ and will cover a range issues that effect communities, both in Gloucestershire and nationally.
Organisations supporting the day include The Hollie Gazzard Trust, Gloucestershire Police, Gloucester Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS), AGE UK, Gloucester Old Persons Association and many more. Representatives from these organisations will be available to answer questions, offering information, advice, guidance and support to anyone who comes along. Teas, coffees and cakes will also be available.
Dave McCallum, Independent Chair of the Gloucestershire Children Safeguarding Board said “It’s great that community groups are getting involved, taking a lead and making safeguarding a real priority for their local area.
“Safeguarding is everybody’s business and we need to all work together to have the greatest impact.
“Events like this raise awareness of safeguarding locally and are a fantastic way to share the safeguarding message. I’d like to encourage any community thinking about hosting this kind of event to get in touch and we’ll do anything we can to help.”
Marilyn Balderstone from the Barton and Tredworth Neighbourhood Partnership said: “As a neighbourhood partnership we are committed to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of our local community.
“We hope the day appeals to people of all ages to offer advice and information on any safeguarding issue; from financial abuse and ‘scams’ to child abuse.
“If you want to find out more about what’s happening in your community and meet others like you, come along to the day”
If you or your local town, parish or neighbourhood council is interested in hosting a similar event, please get in contact with the GSCB on 01452 583629 or the GSAB on 01452 427556.
The event is taking place at Barton Community Centre, Barton Street, Gloucester on 23rd March between 11am and 4pm.
