Police are seeking witnesses to an assault in a supermarket car park in Gloucester in the early hours of Christmas Day.

The incident happened in the car park of the Vauxhall Inn Supermarket on Barton Street between 4.30am and 5am on Friday 25 December.

A 46-year-old man was assaulted with a metal object and suffered bruising and a cut to his eye.

Officers believe there were several people in the car park at the time who may have witnessed the assault or a disturbance in the area around the time of the incident.

They would like anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to them to call 101 and quote incident 66 of 25 December.

Two men, aged 26 and 24 and both from Gloucester, were arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm in connection with the incident and have been bailed to attend Compass House custody suite on 26 January, pending further inquiries.
