Police in Gloucester are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted, causing him serious injuries.

A 38-year-old man was assaulted by another man in the Cromwell Street area at around 10pm on Saturday (10 September).

The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains for treatment. He sustained serious internal injuries and an injury to his head.

DC Grace Samuel, the investigating officer, said: “Officers are trying to piece together exactly what happened on Saturday night to identify who was involved.

“The victim is in a serious but stable condition, and has sustained life changing injuries as a result of this assault. It occurred in a public place where any number of potential witnesses maybe able to assist us with our enquiries, and most importantly provide us with information which may lead to the arrest of the person who has carried out this assault.”


A CCTV image has been released of two women who are thought to have witnessed the incident and may be able to help police with their enquiries.

These women, or anyone else who witnessed the incident or have information which can help police, should call 101 quoting incident 509 of 10 September.
