Police are appealing for witnesses after a handbag was stolen from a 79-year-old woman in Gloucester last Thursday.

The victim was returning to her blue Hyundai Getz, which was parked on Stanley Road close to the junction of Stroud Road, at about 12.30pm.

As she got into the car an unknown male opened the passenger door and stole the woman’s handbag before running off.

The handbag contained bank cards, documents and a small amount of cash.

The male was described as white, 5ft 10ins tall – 6ft tall, of skinny build and wearing a black or navy jacket worn with the hood up, a black baseball cap and dark coloured jeans.
